Candle-lite Company Information |
Q. Where is Candle-lite located and how can I contact them?
A. Candle-lite's business office is located in Southwestern Ohio
10521 Millington Court
Cincinnati, OH 45242
Business Phone: 513-563-1113
Business Fax: 513-563-9639
Q. Are your simmering liquid products (simmering liquid potpourri) toxic or in any way harmful if ingested?
A. ABSOLUTELY NOT. Despite their best efforts, we often get frantic calls from parents whose children or pets have ingested small quantities of the liquid. Feel sure that there is NOTHING harmful in the product. Children and pets may suffer discomfort; it may be from the additive that leaves a bitter aftertaste to discourage additonal consumption.

Candle-lite Performance |
Q. Are Candle-lite taper candles dripless?
A. The key to this answer is burning conditions. Our tapers are manufactured to be dripless by the application of a special outer coating of wax with a higher melt point. This outer layer does not melt as fast as the core, and that allows a well to develop to hold the melted wax. Proper burning conditions will prevent the outer coating from weakening and in turn from dripping. It is important to trim the wick to 1/4" before lighting, to keep the tapers away from drafts which might blow the flame sideways, to burn them some distance apart so that heat is not transferred, and to keep them standing straight in their candlesticks so wax doesn't spill over the edge.
Q. Why do some candles give off smoke?
A. Once again the key to this answer is proper burning conditions. Always trim wicks to 1/4" before lighting. If a high flame or smoking is noted during a burn, extinguish, trim the wick again to 1/4" and relight. Drafts can also be an important factor. They can cause a candle to burn unevenly exposing more wick than necessary. Remember, air vents, open windows, overhead fans all create air currents that will cause the flame to smoke.
Q. What causes a candle to burn unevenly?
A. Drafts again are the culprit - causing the flame to burn to one side. Another reason could be that the holder is not resting on a level surface and the wick is not centered and straight.
Q. Why are there burning instructions on each Candle-lite candle?
A. Each style of Candle-lite candle requires certain special handling to insure your safety and to enhance the enjoyment of your candle burning experience. For example, votive candles should always be burned IN a votive cup, pillar candles ON a plate or pillar holder, discontinue burning when 1/2" of unmelted wax remains to avoid breakage - all important information. Always take time to read the important burning instructions on each candle before use.
Q. Why do Candle-lite instructions recommend that you discontinue burning a filled glass candle when 1/2" of unmelted wax remains?
A. To insure a safe burn and to avoid any possibility of the flame coming in contact with the sidewall of the glass container, we recommend you stop burning when there is 1/2" of hard, not liquid, wax remaining. Some wax should remain on the bottom for safety's sake! Always burn on a heat resistant surface.
Q. Why do Candle-lite container candle instructions advise not to reuse the containers?
A. Normal use and transport can produce unseen weaknesses in the containers. In addition, as our formulations and wick sizes are carefully chosen for each container we use. It is not safe to refill the glass with a candle of unknown characteristics. We do recommend that you continue to enjoy them for storage of small items, candy dishes or collections.
Q. Why do small balls sometimes form on candle wicks?
A. This is a clear sign to extinguish, trim the wick back to 1/4" and relight. Take care not to drop any of the trimmings or any other foreign material in the pool of wax. This formation typically will form when the candle is burning too fast.
